Guest Post and Giveaway with Clive Hindel

Good morning! Today I am happy to welcome Clive Hindel to my blog. I am highlighting his books and sharing a guest post from the author. Stay tuned I also have two paperback books to giveaway as well!(us entrants only) I have not read Clive's books as of yet, but the blurbs do interest me so I will be adding them to my ever growing TBR pile.

From Clive, a little about how he writes:

How I write is I never force it. I am fortunate in having a substantial body of work built up over many years and if I am not feeling creative enough to try something new I can simply go back and revise something from the bank, getting each work closer to the day it is complete.
I write two different kinds of books, both inspired by my own life and experiences. My fictional lawyer, Jack Lauder, gets into all sorts of scrapes in the North Country and each of them owes something to my own experience and contains something fairly close, just hidden enough to remain anonymous, to cases in which I have been involved. The characters too are drawn from life although I will quite often juxtapose their positions in books so that they are not recognisable as themselves or I might combine the character traits of two or three people into one. Few are entirely imagined. Two of these "Jack books" have been published ("The Lawyer's Tale" and "The Eighth Square") and another three are in need of revision or completion
Then I write another type of book which is just as autobiographical in nature but, whereas Jack is a modern character, these take place in the recent past. They are really rites of passage books, full of modern history as the background to the story, and owe something to magical realism, although they would not fit easily into that genre. They are action books because I have lived an active life but the most important thing to me about them is they have strong themes of love and betrayal and I like to think of them as literature, although that judgment is best left to others. One of these has been published ("Dark Side Crossing") and another three are close to being completed. Once again they are peopled with larger than life characters because that is the nature of the people I have known. Not all of them are good characters; some are very bad; most are simply human.
I have two older books written when I was very young which I wish to revise and complete (but will have to get the mss typed first). I am looking forward to that because I want to retain that earlier, pure style as far as possible. I may be able to complete one only because I have borrowed extensively from the other for Dark Side Crossing and it may be that there is insufficient left to complete in isolation. I have another half dozen or so books from that same early period which I also intend to revisit and some from a later period which are on disk so I am already revisiting these. I hope to get the whole body of work published in due course.
The advice I would give to any aspiring writer is to write for yourself first of all. You need a lot of luck to get published even if you have written something very good. There is no use getting hung up about this. You do this because there is a need in you to get it out. Give in to that need and just complete the job; let the future take care of itself.

When murder charges make Gabby second guess everything she knows about Nikolai, she’s hurt and angry and determined to walk away. Heaven is For Real by Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent

Good morning all! Today's review is a deviation from what I normally bring you but I was so moved reading it that I just had to share. I am sure many of you have heard of this book, and have maybe even read this book. If you haven't, no matter what faith you may or may not have I believe it's worth taking the time to check out.

A young boy emerges from life-saving surgery with remarkable stories of his visit to heaven.
Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn't know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear.
Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how "reaaally big" God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit "shoots down power" from heaven to help us.
Told by the father, but often in Colton's own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle.
